When I got married I knew I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money (or have my parents spend a lot of their money). I knew I could have a very nice wedding for about $5000. And I did, complete with a sit-down dinner, a DJ and free beer and wine at the reception. I saved some money by shopping on eBay. I got my flower girl dress for $30, an aisle runner for the church for $25, personalized cocktail sized napkins that looked lovely arranged around the cake table for $30 just for some examples. And looking on eBay provided me many hours of entertainment. I even saw you can get complete centerpiece sets that people used for their weddings but obviously have no use for after the wedding.
